Description:
1st Regional Policy Dialogue and Network Building of Multi-Stakeholders on Integrated Decentralized Domestic Wastewater Management in Asean Countries (PODIWM) is being held from 19-23 January 2020 at Century Park Hotel,Jakarta.
Head of consultant from FKAAB and also our fellow researcher, UTHM which is *Assoc Prof. Ts. Dr. Aeslina Abdul Kadir* and her co researcher, *Mr. Mohd Ikhmal Haqeem Hassan* are participating in this event.
The collaboration was an initiative and led by National Institute of Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan as a platform to discuss on domestic wastewater management and current situation among Asean countries.
Malaysian delegation were led by Dato Ir. Mohd Azmi Ismail (Director Water Resources Management and Hydrology Division, Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia) together with several agencies such as Mr. Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah (Sewerage Services Department), Mr Iwan Nazri Mohamad Nordin and Mr Kishore Kumar Arumugam (SPAN), Mr Sasidharan Velayutham (IWK), Mr Che Rasid Che Seman (PLANMalaysia) and Prof. Dr. Azmi Aris (UTM).

A gotong-royong program has been going well. To clean the ‘Open Channel’ tool at the Water Resources Technology Laboratory, JTKA. cooperation between all staff is going smoothly. With this program, students can use the tool in teaching and learning sessions.

Conserve the Nature: Love the River

25 students and 3 teachers from Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Ulu Dengar and 10 research assistants from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB)
Description:
One researcher from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Built Environment (FKAAB) organized a knowledge transfer activity entitled “Conserve the Nature: Love the River” in recognizing river quality with the students from Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Ulu Dengar, Kluang. This activity was held on 20 February 2020 with the participant of 25 students in year 6. This activity was held in Hutan Lipur Gunung Lumut, Kluang. The researcher gave a brief on the purpose of this activity. The researcher also taught the students how to make sampling in order to determine the quality of water from the river. The students are taking the sample near the river with help from teachers and assistants. The students have divided into 5 groups and given some of the apparatus to start making samples. Once the samples have collected, the students shared their experience and they were giving the best satisfaction on this activity. Throughout the activity, the students learn a lot about the main role of macro-invertebrate as a biological indicator.

UTHM Wakaf 51 Water Pump Wells for Cambodian Muslim Community

Description:
On 28 February until 1 March 2020, Wakaf and Endowment Centre and Islamic Centre UTHM, have wakaf 51 water pump wells for Cambodian Muslim community under the program called “Wakaf dan Infaq Bersama UTHM, Misi Kemanusiaan Kemboja 2020”. The program involved three villages at Pnomph Penh which were Kampung Trolak, Kampung Chnang and kampung Mualaf baru.
This wakaf program were being donated by UTHM community and the community around Batu Pahat to help the Cambodian Muslims in dire need for clean water. The construction of the water pump wells worths RM61,200. Other than that, the groups also donates others necessities such as cash money, clothes, the Holy Quran and foods. They also held aqiqah banquet for tahfiz students and the local community in the three villages.

Description:
Integration of engineering field requires hands-on training and experiences. In order to realize such attempt, Institute of Integrated Engineering (I2E) requires a working model to integrate three engineering fields in one project. Learning from the high water usage at Masjid Sultan Ibrahim UTHM which lead to high water bill, and the unutilized tubewell at Research Centre on Soft Soil (RECESS), a groundwater supply might be a solution to the issue. Due to high total dissolve solid (TDS) and salinity, a water filter system is also required. I2E has been collaborated with Preston GeoCEM Sdn Bhd (A spin-off company of UTHM) and researchers from Electrical, Mechanical and Civil background to complete this project. The system could be the showcase for the visitor especially main industrial players to see UTHM’s products

Kempen R & R (Report & Reward) merupakan kempen kesedaran dan kawalan pembaziran air berbayar yang berlaku di sekitar kampus Induk UTHM. Tujuan Kempen ini adalah untuk mencari dan mengenalpasti punca dan lokasi kebocoran, kerosakan struktur paip atau faktor kehilangan lain bagi membantu pihak universiti menanggani masalah air bersih dengan lebih mampan.

Description:
Rainwater harvesting allows rainwater to be collected and channeled to storage tank before can be reused. Stored water then can be reused again for domestic purposes, landscape, recreational used and washing activities and stated that our society has high level of readiness in using rain water for outside body purposes rather than inside. In conclusion, harvested water has many used if used optimumly and efficiently. E-SPAH focused on how efficient rainwater harvesting that can be designed based on rain fall data, cost material selection and surrounding factor.

Description:
Program ini merupakan program berbentuk khidmat Masyarakat dan Pemindahan Ilmu di Kampung Angkat FKAAB iaitu Kampung Orang Asli Kangkar Senangar, Batu Pahat. Program telah dilaksanakan pada 7-11-2020 dan disertai oleh sukarelawan dan fasilitator dikalangan staf dan pelajar-pelajar FKAAB seramai 20 orang. Pengisian program meliputi kerja-kerja CSR membaikpulih bumbung Balai Adat oleh staf Kluster Bangunan dan Pembinaan, KTP Pemeriksaan Kualiti Sumber Air dari Perigi Tiub serta Pembuatan Baja Kompos oleh Penyelidik dari MPRC. Program ini telah mendapat sambutan dan kerjasama yang baik dari pelbagai pihak terutamanya ICRC, UTHM, FKAAB dan masyarakat orang Asli di Kampung Orang Asli Kangkar Senangar serta sekiranya.
