AUGUST 2024 | RESEARCH VISIT TO KANAGAWA UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL CLUB
Venue: Takeyama Housing Complex, Yokohama
On August, 2024, we visited the Kanagawa University Football Club to exchange knowledge and insights on low-carbon initiatives!
The football club is actively involved in community-building activities, showcasing how sports can play a vital role in sustainability. Some highlights from our visit:
• A vacant building was renovated using recycled materials, transforming it into a functional space for the community
• Club members have been educated on growing their own vegetables, which are now used in the club’s meals
• They prepare meals using produce from their community garden and sell them at very low prices for students and the local community
• Sports students participate in community activities, including tutoring sessions with local school students, courses for the elderly, physiotherapy sessions for seniors, and even community gardening.
An inspiring example of how sports and sustainability can go hand-in-hand!
