Day 2 Program – Academia Day “Town Hall”

Description:
The two-day celebration of University Level Academia Day was organized by UTHM’s PERKASA (Lecturer and Lecturer Association) on 23th – 24th October 2019. The second day of Academia’s celebration was followed by the symbolic tree planting event and town hall sessions. After the tree planting session, a town hall session was being held in order to provide an opportunity for academic staff to share their ideas and opinions with university officials. Besides, there was a dialogue session between the academic staff and the top-management of the university. During the sharing session, various ideas and opinions were expressed by the academic staff and some questions were answered by the top management of university. Therefore, this session is conducive to the development of UTHM’s academic excellence. The program was attended by YBhg. Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Senior University Officers, Perkasa members, and academic staff.

The Malaysia Academy Day which falls on 5 October was held for the first time at UTHM was aimed to appreciate the contribution and sacrifice of academic staff.

“Teaching is noble and meaningful career”, the Education Minister, Dr. Maszlee Malik said.

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the educators, both in the university and the school, in the city and the country. For being in this profession and sincerely educate and shaping our students to become a capable person with excellent personalities, and thus the future of the nation”, he said.

“Continue to teach. Teaching is noble.  Quote by Malala Yousafzai: “One child, one teacher, one pen and one book can change the world”, he said.
